REASONS TO LOVE CENTRAL MICHIGAN

AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Compared to other states and cities in the region, Michigan's cost of living remains more affordable. The Median sale price of housing in Gratiot County in 2015 was $66,000, and in Isabella it was $110,750 (according to the NGLR MLS). Central Michigan has much to offer; whether you want to live in the country, or in a larger city (such as Mt. Pleasant), you have many options to rent or own.

LOCAL FESTIVALS
Central Michigan has many festivals and celebrations to choose from. Some examples include Shepherd's Maple Syrup Festival (complete with a city-wide yard sale), Alma's Highland Festival (bring your kilt!), and St. Louis' Blues Festival.

GREAT LAKES
Michigan is the only state that touches 4 of the 5 Great Lakes. No matter where you are in Michigan, you're never more than 85 miles away from a Great Lake! Not only that, Michigan is peppered with lakes and rivers without the "Great" designation. You can purchase a home on the lake, or simply travel to the myriad of water features available.

FOUR SEASONS
Unlike many other states, Michigan has four distinct seasons. A running joke in Michigan is that it is not uncommon to experience all four seasons in one day!

LOCAL UNIVERSITIES
Michigan is home to diverse educational opportunities. University of Michigan, Michigan State, Wayne State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Oakland University, Alma College...Michigan boasts great colleges with interesting programs, and in varying sizes. CMU (Central Michigan University) can be found in Isabella County, and is very involved in the Mt. Pleasant Community. They not only offer a great education, but also are a major employer.

YEAR ROUND ACTIVITIES
Whether it's winter or summer, spring or fall; indoors or outdoors; rural or metropolitan, Michigan offers a variety of things to see, taste, smell, hear and experience. Michigan is home to vineyards, historic communities, microbreweries, a large freshwater coast, and many campsites for outdoor enthusiasts. From kayaking on one of our many rivers, to snowmobiling through the woods, Michigan has it all!
