MEET THE 2010 EXECUTIVE
OFFICERS
Paula Arndt, President
Paula was licensed in fall of 1999 and received her Associate Broker’s
license in 2002. She is the Broker/Owner of Broadway Realty in Mt. Pleasant.
She holds both an ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative) and GRI (Graduate,
REALTOR® Institute) designation. This is her 2nd term on the Board of
Directors. She served as President of the Association in 2004 and was
instrumental in starting “REALTOR Reach Out Day” in May of that year. She
has also served on the CMAR RPAC/Political Affairs Committee 2000-2006, the
Membership Committee 2000-2006, Standard Forms Committee 2005-2007, Banquet
Committee 2004-2007 and currently serves on the MLS Committee. Paula worked
on MAR’s Convention Task Force 2005-2006 and was an integral part of making
the 2005 Convention at the Soaring Eagle a successful event. She has been
one of our Association’s MAR delegates for two terms. From 2000 to 2002 she
was a Director on the Board of the local American Heart Association.
John Leonard, President Elect
John has been a licensed
real estate agent for 13 years. He is an Associate Broker with Coldwell
Banker Mt. Pleasant Realty & Assoc. He is e-Pro certified and has earned
his GRI (Graduate of the REALTOR® Institute). John is currently serving on
3 CMAR committees: Audit, Finance and Bylaws. He also is a delegate to
MAR. John was awarded 2009 REALTOR® of the year. and also received the 2008
President's Award. He was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, but went to
Culver Military Academy for High School. After Culver he attended to St.
Lawrence University where he graduated with a BS degree in math. John is
the father of two and grandfather of four. John's main avocation is sea
kayaking.
Kevin Keating, Past President
A Mount Pleasant native, Kevin attended Mount Pleasant Public Schools and is
a 1990 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, where he earned varsity
letters in Wrestling and Football. Kevin graduated from Michigan State
University in 1994 with a Bachelors of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in
Social Science and Law. After spending over 15 years in the business world,
Kevin returned to Mt Pleasant to apply that experience and knowledge to a
new career in real estate. In 2005 Kevin earned his ABR (Accredited Buyer
Representative) designation.
Kevin’s professional involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors
of the Central Michigan Association of REALTORS® and the Board of Directors
of the Home Builders Association of Central Michigan as well as active
participation in one of the Referrals Over Breakfast (R.O.B.) groups of the
Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce.
When not selling real estate Kevin spends time with his son Brendan, and
also enjoys hunting, fishing, woodworking and restoring the 100 year old
fieldstone schoolhouse he bought in the summer of 2006. Kevin is active in
many non-work related associations including the Isabella County Sportsmen’s
Club, Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, and Whitetails
Unlimited.
Rebecca Terpening, Secretary
In 2004,
Rebecca Terpening joined her Father at his brokerage, RE/MAX Brookside, and
became a licensed REALTOR. While with RE/MAX Brookside, she served four
years on the Sales Advisory Council for RE/MAX of Michigan as the Vice
President of Membership/Secretary, was awarded an Executive Club sales award
in 2007, & was the 2007 RE/MAX of Michigan Spirit Award recipient. She also
became an Associate Broker & an Accredited Buyer Representative in 2007.
She has remained active with the Central Michigan Association of REALTORS
serving on the MLS committee, and the Publicity & Public Relations
committee.
In 2009, her
and her Father merged with Coldwell Banker Mt. Pleasant Realty, forming The
Brookside Team. The Brookside Team specializes in recreational,
residential, and commercial properties in the Clare, Isabella, Midland,
Gladwin, & Osceola Counties and offers 25 years of combined real estate
experience with Sellers & Buyers. They maintain an active home office in
Clare, and an office in Mt. Pleasant. In the Fall of 2009, Rebecca was
nominated to the Central Michigan Association of REALTORS Board of Directors
Secretary.
Her family has
resided in Clare, MI, since 1979 and she is a 1992 Clare High School
graduate. She attended Purdue University, Mid Michigan Community College,
and Central Michigan University studying Natural Resources & Biology. She
is the active in her community serving as Co-Chair of the Clare Irish
Festival Committee, which plans the largest festival of the year in the City
of Clare. She has actively fundraised for Komen For The Cure, and
Children's Miracle Network, and has chaired the Helping Everyone Find The
Perfect Home pet adoption, as part of the Clare Summerfest, which helps
animals find homes from the Clare County Animal Shelter, and animal foster
programs like S.A.F.E., and Kitty Korner.
She enjoys
going camping, hiking, and spending time with family, friends, and her dog
Chelsea.
Eileen Rush, Treasurer
Eileen Rush started her real estate career in 2001 with Coldwell Banker
Mt. Pleasant Realty where she is a multi million dollar producer. Eileen
received her ABR designation in 2005, and is an E-Pro specialist. Eileen was
born and raised in Dublin, Ireland and moved to Mt. Pleasant 40 years ago.
She met her husband, Judge Bill Rush, here and they have been married for 38
years. They have three children and five grandchildren. Eileen is an active
member of this community and has served on the Legislative Affairs Committee
and the Finance Committee with CMAR and on the local chapter of the American
Red Cross and is currently a board member with Sacred Heart Academy
Foundation and Mid Michigan Community College Foundation. Eileen enjoys her
grandchildren, golfing, playing bridge, cooking and traveling.

DIRECTORS
Paul Alexander
This is Paul’s sixth year as an affiliate serving on the Board of Directors.
He has held this position since CMAR initially allowed Affiliate Non-REALTOR
members as Directors. Paul’s first real estate related job in Mt. Pleasant
was as a loan officer for Mutual Savings and Loan. He began there in 1975
and continued until he opened Mt. Pleasant Abstract & Title in 1981 with
only 2 ½ employees. Today Paul employs 60 people and owns 14 Abstract &
Title offices throughout Mid and Northern Michigan, serving 24 Counties.
Paul is also a member of the Homebuilder’s Association, a prior President
and Board member of the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce, a prior Director
on the Art Reach Board, the first Treasurer of the Mt. Pleasant Area
Foundation and has also served a term on their Board. Paul earned a BS from
CMU 1971-197 and obtained a Masters from CMU 1976-1979, both in Business
Management. Paul along with his wife Maryanke lives in Isabella County. Paul
has three sons, next year all three will be attending CMU, a stepdaughter
currently in Veterinarian School and a stepson in the military stationed in
Colorado.
Marci Browne
Marci was licensed in 1999 and starting her career in real estate with
American Dream Properties and received her broker's license in 2003. At that
time she opened America's Choice Realty in St Louis and in 2007 moved the
office from St Louis to Ithaca. From 2003 to 2007 while her office was in St
Louis she was a member of the Middle of the Mitten Committee and the
Downtown Development for the City of St Louis. Marci is a member of the Alma
area Business and Professional Women, the Ithaca Rotary Club and chair
person for the Ithaca Promotional Group for 2009. Marci has been a board
member for the Gratiot County Chamber for the past 3 years and an ambassador
for the Gratiot Chamber. Marci also works on several committees that are a
part of the groups she is a member of. She has had a team or been a member
of a team for the Gratiot Relay for Life to raise money to fight the battle
against cancer for the past 10 years. Marci served on the Grievance
Committee for 2 years and she is currently on the Pro Standards Committee
and truly believe that working fairly and honestly with everyone we have
contact with is the most important part of our jobs as Realtors. Before she
started working in real estate she was a bookkeeper and business manager for
a local GM dealership for 18 years. Marci’s husband Mike works as an
electrician for General Motors and she has 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
Marci enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Sandi Jeffrey
Sandi is an Associate Broker with Century 21 Pioneer in Clare, Michigan.
She been in the Real Estate Profession since 1978. As a result she has seen
many changes in the industry, the majority of them very positive. Before she
assumed her present position with Century 21 Pioneer she was a Realtor in
Howell, Michigan. Sandi is active in all types of real estate transactions
from commercial to vacant land. However, she does specialize in recreational
properties. Sandi and her husband live on beautiful Eight Point Lake. They
have six grandchildren; five girls and one boy. She enjoys water sports,
golf and just hanging out with friends. Sandi would love to be the one to
help you find just the right place in the beautiful Central Michigan area.
She believes in listening closely to her clients' wants and needs and
providing them with all options that are open to them.
Denise Love
Denise is currently a REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Mt. Pleasant Realty &
Associates, has been licensed in the State of Michigan since 1980. Prior to
joining Coldwell Banker, Denise was a member of management for a large
financial institute in Tampa, Fl and at Chemical Bank, Mt. Pleasant, MI. As
a member of the Mt. Pleasant Community since 1979, Denise, has developed and
ran successful businesses that have served our area. Her husband, Kevin
works at Central Michigan University and is currently the Department
Chairperson of the Management Department, School of Business. Denise and
Kevin have three children that reside and work in the Central Michigan Area.
Denise has served on the Grievance Committee for two years and her
designations include ABR and e-Pro. Denise enjoys supporting the CMU
Chippewa's, fishing, biking, racquet ball, cross country skiing and visiting
family & friends in Florida.
Brandon LaBelle
Brandon was licensed in 2001 and received his Broker’s license in 2005. He
is the owner of LaBelle Realty and LaBelle Properties located in Mt.
Pleasant. He is currently in the process of obtaining his CCIM designation
through the CCIM Institute. Brandon is a past board member for the Property
Management Association of West Michigan and is currently a member of the
Central Michigan Association of Realtors, Michigan Association of Realtors,
National Association of Realtors, Commercial Board of Realtors, Member of
the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce, Vision 20/20 Member, board member for
Junior Achievement of Isabella County and is a Union Township Planning
Commissioner. He is also a member of the education committee for the Central
Michigan Association of Realtors. Brandon was born and raised in Mt.
Pleasant. Brandon has lived in Tennessee, Georgia and Montana before
returning to Michigan. His interests include golfing, mountain biking and
jogging.
Susan Massaway
Susan Massaway
has been a realtor since 1996. She is one of the first to have a team of
realtors within an office. Susan’s team consists of her husband, Tom
Massaway and two buyer’s specialists, Bethany Beebe and Brook Schumacher.
Together the team has received top awards in production and customer
service. Susan has served on the following committees: forms, professional
standards and education. She holds these degrees: ABR, accredited buyer
representative, CRS, certified residential specialist, and CDPE, certified
distressed property specialist. Technology and education is the key to
Susan and her team’s successes. Her hobbies include: reading, running,
baking, and enjoying family and friends.
Kerry Leonard
Kerry
Leonard is an Associate Broker at Century 21 Lee-Mac Realty in Alma. She
was originally licensed in 1996. Kerry has served on the MLS committee, Pro
Standards committee and Banquet committee. She has also served 2 terms on
the Board of Directors and one term as treasurer. Kerry spends her spare
time with her three children and grandson. She lists and sells primarily
residential homes but is also very involved in new construction. "I love
the feeling of helping customers find and create their dream home."
Maggie Murphy
Maggie Murphy has been in Mt.Pleasant since 1972
where she resides with her husband Howard (retired 3rd Grade
teacher); they have three children and three grand children. Maggie has
attended Jackson Community College where she received her Associate degree
and her Bachelor degree from Central Michigan University. She started her
career in real estate as a sales person later became a broker and finally as
an appraiser. She has a GRI, owns her own company Murphy & Associates
Appraisers LLC with offices in Central and western Michigan.
Maggie has served CMAR in
many capacities over the years to include Board of Directors, Treasurer
(several terms); committees such as Legislature, Political Affairs, RPAC,
Financing, Building, Education, Standard Forms, Banquet, Golf Outing, and
Technology. She is also a founding member of the Michigan Reciprocal
Alliance where she has served as Chairperson and currently as Vice
Chairperson. She also has been involved with the Sacred Heart Athletic
Association Lenten Fish Fries, a former member of the Junior Achievement
Board of Directors and Union Township Zoning Board of Appeals.
Some of Maggie’s other
interest include creating and sewing baby quilts, tote bags out of left over
sofa fabric samples from her other company “Sofa Leftovers”, and creating
many different Holiday items
